Vivian “Mimi” Allen, age 87, died peacefully at home with her husband and daughter by her side on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007.
Vivian was born Jan., 14, 1920, in the family home in Troy, Texas, to the late L.B. and Lois Thompson. She graduated from Troy High School in 1938 and attended Mary Hardin-Baylor for a year. She married her loving husband James Allen from Sanderson, Texas, on Feb. 14, 1941. They began their family of three children on the ranch near Sanderson, Texas. The family moved to Bronte, Texas, in 1948. Mimi’s greatest joy in life was raising and caring for her family.
Vivian and James moved to Brownwood in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son Jim Allen Jr.; one sister; and three brothers.
Vivian is survived by her husband, James “Popie” Allen of Brownwood; a daughter, Deanie Comolli and husband, Kent of Brownwood; son, Bobby Allen and wife Barbie of Mansfield, Texas; six grandchildren, Craig and Nikki Comolli of Lillian, Texas, Dee Ann and Jim Reynolds of Antalya, Turkey, Missy and Andy Harrison of Rochester Hills, Mich., Chris Allen of Montrose, Colo., Ashley Allen of College Station, Texas, and Amy Allen of Columbia, Mo.; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.Q. Thompson of Temple, Texas, and Dale and wife Leni of San Angelo, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Vivian “Mimi” Allen will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 8, 2007, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ with Ted Kell officiating. Her grandson Craig Comolli will share special memories. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials be made to Cherokee Home for Children, PO Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832-9989.
