Jessie Dolan Strickland, 72, of Waycross died Thursday night (Nov. 6, 2008) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Ware County to the late William Matthew Strickland and Virginia Thrift "Verdia" Strickland. Mr. Strickland retired from GATX and worked at the former Hatcher Point Mall of Waycross and was a repairman for local realtors. He attended University Boulevard Church of God. Mr. Strickland was a member of the Sheriff's Possee, Waycross Police Department Reserves and was a former Boy Scout Leader. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Louise Ware Strickland, his second wife, Dorothy Jean McQuaig Strickland; four brothers, Layton Strickland, Luther Strickland and Gene Strickland; one sister, Cora Strickland, Irene Strickland Britt, and Lydia Strickland Lee.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Taylor, Waycross and Terri McElveen, Cochran, GA; four grandchildren, Toni Renee Taylor, Corvallis, Oregon, Billy Taylor and his wife Lori, Waycross, Meredith McElveen and Andrew McElveen both of Cochran, GA, one great-grandson, Anthony Taylor, Waycross, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 PM at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
