Martha Ann Covey was born 23 May 1840 in Hardin County, Tennessee. She was 4th of the nine children born to Archibald Downing Covey (1811-1885) and Margaret Ann [Matthews] Covey (1820-?). Siblings: Sarah H. [Covey] Worley (1837-), William Russell Covey (1838-1914), Mary Jane Sophronia Covey (1843-?), Emily Lucretia [Covey] Whitson (1844-1886), Leven John Wesley Covey (1848-1916), Edward Lorenzo Downing Covey (1850-1909) and James Ememsire Covey (1856-?). She married Isaac Perry Worley on 2 January 1861 in Hardin County, Tennessee and they were the parents of 5 daughters; Margaret E. [Worley] Harder (1863-1948), Hester R. [Worley] King (1865-1946), Sarah (Sallie) Rebecca [Worley] Moore (1868-1950), Mary Callie [Worley] Willson (1872-1966) and Fannie Bell [Worley] Moore/Kimes (1877-1968).

Isaac died in December of 1879 and the 1880 Census shows her as the head of the household and living with them is her widowed father Archibald D. Covey. Shortly after that she moved her family to Peter Pender, Franklin, Arkansas. She died 8 Mar 1885 and is buried in the Lowe's Creek Cemetery in Franklin County, Arkansas.
