Known as 'Snipper',Oliver drove a mule pulled school wagon in Bonita as a teen, worked as a welder of ships during WWII in Houston and Savannah, opened a Texaco station in Mer Rouge, La in the late 40's, farmed on the Bonne-I-Dee until death from cardiovascular disease. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family get-togethers. Went to church 3 Sundays in a row after witnessing the sudden death of his brother-in-law, Claude Sivils, during a poker game.

Wife Esther, with roots in Central East Texas and central Louisiana, received a BS in education from Louisiana College in Pineville, and taught school in Bastrop and Bonita. She purchased the house in Mer Rouge with her meager earnings, living there with her parents until their death. She briefly lived with her husband and child, Jerry, in Houston and Savannah, during WWII. Daughter Nancy was born in Bastrop. She earned a Masters in Education at the University of Arkansas in the early 50's. Her last years were spent in Linden, Texas with her son's family. She died of old age.

Son Gerald(Jerry)beget Michael, Kathy, Teressa, and adopted Dennis. Jerry and wife Martha Messner, live in Linden, Texas.

Daughter Nancy, married C.E. Aslin of Pineville, and beget Canon(Buddy), Trevor, Brett, Andrew, and John. Died of cancer in Texarkana, Texas.
