Obituary.

John Henry Dayton Mounts was born at Dayton, Ohio, on the 13th day of April 1857, and departed this life on the 19th day of October 1921.

He moved to Kansas in 1874 where he lived near Winfield for a number of years, going from there to western Kansas.

He was married to Edith Margaret Hepworth on the 18th day of October, 1885, at Nescatunga, Kansas.

He moved to Oklahoma in 1893, and had resided in Tonkawa since 1902.

He had been an active member and worker in the church for thirty-four years.

There survive him to mourn his death his wife, his four children, Lina, Grace, Lucas, Dayton R. Mounts, Irma Edith, Chenoweth and Marvin U. Mounts, his six grandchildren, his three brothers, N.S. Mounts of Geary, Okla., D.A. Mounts of Oklahoma City, and C.M. Mounts of Lipscomb, Texas, his four sisters, Sarah G. Doty, of Cushing, Okla., Susan P. Williams, Ella Griffith and Alice Roe, of Winfield, Kansas and many friends.

Mr. Mounts was a man of broad vision. He saw both sides of every question, and chose unflinchingly the side that seemed to him right, regardless of its popularity. His judgement was good, but if he erred in it he was ready to admit it when it was so proven. He was a man among men, a friend and a wise counselor. His cheerful, jovial disposition made smooth many rough places in life. The world is the better for his having lived.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Saturday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Baker, pastor of the church. Burial in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
