Noah was the son of Josias King and Elizabeth Dague King Hartzog. He was the husband of Sarah Adams King. Noah and Sarah were the parents of Mary Elizabeth King Finnegan, b. abt 1858 and Lea J. King, b. abt 1861.

Noah migrated from his childhood home in Rockford, Ohio, to Syracuse, Indiana, where he earned his living by being a carpenter. In 1904, ten years after becoming a widower, he moved into his daughter Mary's house in Chicago, Illinois. He died there from "organic heart disease."
