R. L. (Bud) Deavers died at his home on route 1, Cleveland Monday. He had been in ill health for several months. Mr. Deavers was 77 years of age and was the last of this large pioneer family. They were a family of devout Christians and members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Thomas B. Deaver, a brother of the deceased, was a minister. He was at one time Treasurer of Blount County. The deceased is survived by his second wife, his first wife having died several years ago. Mr. Deavers and wife had no children of their own but raised and educated two sets of orphan children.
The funeral services were held at Concord C. P. Church, near his home and were conducted by Rev. T. B. Nation. The interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, near Oneonta, Wade was in charge.
