Deceased was a native of Scotland. He had lived on the bay for many years. He was a coal miner, and was a man of energy and intelligence. He retained his mental and physical vigor to a remarkable degree until the last few months. On Jan 7th he suffered a stroke of paralysis, which was later complicated with erysipelas, and he gradually sank until death ensued. He leaves a large number of descendants.
The funeral services were held at Samuel Archer's place on Isthmus slough Monday, and was conducted by Rev. R. C. Lee.
