Obituary from the NorthWestern Tribune, p.4, dated 17 Feb 1893:

"On Monday evening, February 6th, Wm. A. Tiffany died at the residence of his son, Edgar, in Deerfield Twp. Deceased was born in Massachusetts in 1825, and when he was five years old his parents moved to Pembroke, NY. In 1847, he was married to Miss Bertha Bacheltor and in 1849, he moved to Wisconsin, where he lived until August 1861. In that year, he took up a 1/4 section of government land on sections 13 and 14 of Fremont twp. and endured all the privations and hardships of the early pioneers. In 1877, he disposed of his farm and moved to Millbrook, where Mrs. Tiffany died in 1881. He afterwards moved to Cheboygan where he was married again in 1883. In that city, he practiced law and was elected circuit county commissioner. In which position he was elected to a second term when he was taken with that dread disease, Lagrippe, and was forced to resign. In May 1891, he came to Deerfield and since then has lived with his two sons Luther and Edgar. His health had gradually failed until consumption set in from the effects of which he died suddenly on the evening of February 6th. He had eleven children, but only three boys and one girl survive him. One son lives in Missouri, his daughter Mrs. Cordelia Sweet in Hesperia, Oswego County, Michigan, and the other two sons in Deerfield twp. The funeral sermon was preached at the house by the Rev. Frank Gordon and the remains were laid out in the Taylor Cemetery."

William was the son of Henry Tiffany and Sophia Mallory Tiffany, and his wife's name was actually Martha Jane Bachelder. Of the eleven children of William and Martha, the names of eight are known. They are: Wealthy (Jul 1847-9 May 1884, married William Henry Harrison); William H. (1849-?); Sarah L.
