She received her education in the district and Battle Creek schools, from which she was graduated at the age of 15 years in 1920.
After graduation from high school, she attended Stephens College for 2 years, then the State Teachers College from which she graduated in 1924. She taught school for 3 years at Schaller and Lanesboro in this state.
On Oct. 26, 1929, she was married to Byron Frank Arney of Sioux City, Iowa. They lived for a brief time in Sioux City and Sioux Falls, S. D. They returned to Battle Creek to make their permanent home. Here their only son, Terry Owen, was born March 13, 1938.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ladies Aid, a past worthy matron of the local Eastern Star, a Past President of the Woman's Club, and a member of the Library Board.
She is survived by her widower, son Terry, her mother, Mrs. Fannie Spotts; her brother Frank of Arnolds Park, and many other close relatives.
