Clayoma Blanche (Leeds) Bacon, 79, St. Joseph, Mo., went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 19, 2006.

Clayoma was born Feb. 21, 1927, Cleghorn, Iowa, to Clayton and Mabel (Arrasmith) Leeds. She graduated from Cleghorn High School and attended St. Joseph Mercy College of Nursing. She lived in St. Joseph most of her life.

She was married to Daryl Bacon, who preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leonard, Lloyd and LaVerne Leeds; and two sisters, Elma Moser and Viola Howell.

Clayoma is survived by four daughters, Carolyn and Richard Nigh; Sharon Bacon; and Darlene and Danny Klepees, all of St. Joseph; and Charlene and Mark Barnes, Atchison, Kan.; two stepsons, Wayne and Marty Bacon, and Fred Bacon, Platte City, Mo.; sister, Carrie Clark, Colorado; brothers, Loren and Lowell Leeds, Kansas City, Mo.; Dr. Leon Leeds, Wisconsin; and Lewis Leeds, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clayoma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was dedicated to Jesus Christ and his call on her life. She shared her faith with many by teaching, leading and mentoring.

She spent her life taking care of others and volunteered at the Church of the Nazarene, Calvin Center, Danford Hall and Salvation Army.

Service: 10 a.m. Monday, at First Church of the Nazarene, 22nd and Pacific Sts., St. Joseph. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: begins after 9 a.m. Sunday, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Bacon will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

The family suggests memorials to Gideon's International.
