WAR OF 1812 VETERAN
John Overmier/Overmyer (aka John of Pickaway) was probably born in Northumberland Co., PA. Previously, he was thought to be the son of John Peter Obermeier, but recent research confirms that he was, in fact, the son of John George Overmire Jr. and Mary Rearick. It has been reported that cemetery records show he was born Jan. 25, 1781 and died Jun. 8, 1858. This has been confirmed by the dates shown in the photograph of his gravestone (courtesy of RoxAnne Sweany), which spells the last name "Overmyer."
John married Barbara Gensel.
