The funeral for Eleonora Hinrichs will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City, with the Rev. Bruce Stam officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Lake City.
Mrs. Hinrichs, 94, died Sunday (Nov. 2, 2008) at High Street Assisted Living in Lake City.
Eleonora Tonne was born June 22, 1914, on the family farm in Tripoli, Iowa. On Sept. 26, 1937, she married Eugene "Jim" Hinrichs in Tripoli. They lived briefly in Tripoli, where they ran a produce business, then moved to Mallard, Iowa, where they continued in produce. She operated the business from 1944 to 1945, while her husband was called to service during World War II. The couple began farming in the Mallard area in 1953 and retired in 1970. They moved to Lake City in 1977.
Mrs. Hinrichs was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She served as church organist for Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard, and then at Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, James (Muriel) of Walker, Minn., and Rev. Daniel (Pamela) of Racine, Wis.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 17, 2002; a daughter, Patricia; and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, and an hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
