Miss. Nellie, as she was known in Branford, worked most of her life. She was still working at the age of 86 at the Variety Drug Store in Branford for $20.00 a week. Her Grandchildren talked her into retiring and they supplemented her income the rest of her life.
Nellie was survived by her two sons R.A. Brown and Frankie Wise, 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 19 Great Great Grandchildren.
Her son Albert, age 4, died in 1938 from a snake bite when he reached under the doorsteps to get a ball.Her daughter Elsie who married Hardy Bruce Barwick, Sr. died in childbirth in 1945. Her son Lamar died in 1984.
She was a remarkable lady.
She died Jan 14, 1996 at the age of 96. Graveside services were held Jan. 17, 1996 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Branford, Florida. Services were conducted by her son in law, Minister Hardy Bruce Barwick, Sr.
