Aged 100 years and two months, Mr. Ernest Young (Pete) Branstetter, passed away at the family home south of Barnsdall on April 3, 2008 at 8:35 p.m. He was born in a two room log cabin on a farm near Tupelo, Oklahoma on January 30, 1908 to Daniel Allen and Myrtle Lee (Caruthers) Branstetter.

He moved to Barnsdall, Oklahoma with his family when he was 12 years old and lived the rest of his life there. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Barnsdall. Mr. Branstetter and the former Sylvia Clark of Barnsdall were married at Pawhuska, Oklahoma on August 18, 1930. They made their home in rural Barnsdall most of their married life and were blessed with four sons and eight daughters. Mr. Branstetter retired from Bareco (BArnsdall REfining COmpany) in 1972 after working there for 29 years. He was also a farmer and rancher during his life time.
