Sarah E. (Whitecotton) Cranford is the daughter of Harrison and Sarah Whitecotton. Sarah was married April 11, 1878 in Hendricks County, Indiana to a Henry W. Cranford, (sometimes found spelled Crawford on records), who was born about 1850 in North Carolina & died in 1889 in Clay township, Hendricks County, Indiana.Amo

Sarah Elizabeth Whitecotton, daughter of Harrison & Sally Ellis Whitecotton, was born at Groveland, April 30, 1856, and departed this life April 6, 1929, at her home in Amo, 72 years, 11 months and 6 days. In her girlhood she professed conversion and united with the M.E. church at Amo, later moving her membership to the Amo Baptist church, where it remained until her death.

At the age of 21 she was united in marriage to Henry Cranford, who preceded her in death 40 years. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Maude Harbaugh (1879-1954) & Mrs. Effie Edith Harlan (1884-1952) both of whom with one brother, George Whitecotton, four grandchildren & two great-grandchildren, survive her & mourn her going.They feel very grateful to the many neighbors & friends, who also loved her & gave assistance & sympathy in her last illness, which was severe but short. Stricken with pneumonia, she lived only 24 hours. She was a loving & devoted mother, grandmother and sister, a good friend and neighbor. She had many times expressed her readiness and willingness to go.

Funeral services were held in the Baptist church on Monday, April 8, conducted by the pastor Rev. G.E. McCammack, assisted by Rev. P.A. Bryant, a"& Rev. Leslie Bond , pastor of the Friends church. The choir sang "Nearer my God to Thee," & "Asleep in Jesus," Mrs. Iola McCammack at the piano. There were many beautiful floral offerings.
