Dr. William N. Douthit of Madison County, was born in Georgia. The 1900 United States Census showed that Dr. Douthit was living at that time in the Beverly Township of Crawford County, Arkansas. He was a "boarder" in the home of Osby Eubanks. Dr. Douthit was licensed in Newton County, Arkansas and at that time, he listed his place of residence as Delaney, Arkansas. He also practiced medicine at Island, Arkansas.
Dr. Douthit was married to his wife: Lucy. She died in Anaheim, California on the 7th day of October 1968, at the ripe old age of 84 years.
The couple had two sons: William Douthit and Ramson Douthit. Both their sons are buried in the Pope Cemetery in Graphic (Crawford County), Arkansas.
