Marshfield Herald, Thursday, August 21, 1924: This contains several errors, corrections will be in brackets. Wilhelm [Wilmot] Babcock who since 1900 has been operating a farm east of Marshfield in the town of Auburndale died Monday evening at his home after a ten days illness of cancer of the liver. Prior to that time he had been enjoying the best of health and the end came suddenly. Deceased was born in Beaver Dam on November 7th, 1850 where he grew to manhood. In 1870 [1869] he was united in marriage to Miss Ada Clayson who preceded him in death in 1912 [1910]. The first home of Mr. and Mrs. Babcock was made in Beaver Dam where they resided until 1881 when they moved to Dolan, N. Dak. [Doland, South Dakota]. In 1900 they sold their Dakota farm and came to this section and since then have resided on the farm now operated by a son, Hollis and family. Two daughters also survive. They are Mrs. Daisy Bryant [Brandt] of Range Line and Mrs. Lelah Smith of Beaver Dam. One brother, Ben Babcock at Beaver Dam also survives. Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the Norwegian Lutheran Church in the town of Auburndale and will be in charge of Rev. Oaberg of Greenwood.
