Obituary

William Richard Adkins was born June 7th, 1942, at Sedora, Illinois, and departed this life June 1st, 1923, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. A. Gonder, near Turon, at the age of eighty years, eleven months and twenty-four days.

He was married to Ann Lavina Pesterfield at Beardstown, Ills., in 1862, and to this union were born ten children, three sons and seven daughters, of whom one daughter, Alice Josephine, died in infancy and a son, George Adkins, and daughter Mrs. Daisy Plush, died after reaching mature years. The wife and mother also preceded him to the Great Beyond on March 21, 1916.

He leaves two sons, five daughters, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and a host of friends to mourn his departure. The children present at his funeral were: William and Edgar Adkins of Wichita, Mrs. Belle Douglas of Pleasant Plain, Ills., Mrs. Ollie Hunter of Minneola, Mrs. Nettie Rowley of Topeka, and Mrs. Della Gonder of Turon. One daughter, Mrs. Effie Seaman, of Wynoka, Okla., was sick and unable to come.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at three o’clock, Rev. J. A. Holmes officiating, and burial was in the Turon cemetery.
