He had formerly lived in Indianapolis. He had resided in Crawfordsville for 20 years before moving to Hillsboro eight years ago. He attended school in Cornettsville and Epsom. He had worked as a power plant engineer for Central Soya in Indianapolis for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had served in the European Theater Campaign. He was a member of the Smartsburg Christian Church, American Legion Post #188 of Hillsboro, and a life member of the AMVETS.
Surviving, besides the wife, are: four sons, Larry David Cleveland, Indianapolis, William Leon Fielder, Apopka, Florida, Jeffry Lee Fielder, Hillsboro, John Lewis Fielder, Veedersburg; three daughters, Rebecca (Raymond) Mayo, Apopka, Florida, Janet Lea Bennett, Crawfordsville, Tamera Lynn (James) Anderson, Indianapolis; a brother, Arnold L. Fielder, Doylestown, Ohio; a sister, Esther B. Myer, Epsom; 17 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Funeral services were held at Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Clarence Lee officiating. Military gravesite services were held in the I.O.O.F.
