Lidia was the daughter of Capt John Peabody and Hannah Andrews of Topsfield, Mass. She was married in Topsfield on 3 Dec 1696 to a first cousin, Jacob Pearley, b. Rowley, Mass. circa 1670, d. Bradford, Mass. 1751, the son of Thomas Perley and Lydia Peabody (his wife's name and mother's name were the same). Following Lidia's death, Jacob m. (2) (intention in Boxford 24 June 1733) the widow Mehitable (Stafford) Brown, whose former husbands were John Hovey and Ebenezer Brown. A letter of administration on the estate of Jacob Pearley of Bradford was dated 29 April 1751.
CAUTION: William R. Cutter in his Genealogical and Personal Memoirs relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts (vol. IV, p 2016), writes that Jacob Pearley had three wives, and the first two were both named Lydia Peabody. He states the second one was a daughter of Joseph Peabody and Bethia Bridges. This is incorrect. This latter Lydia Peabody was the wife of Joseph Bixby. Jacob Pearley only had two wives, and his first wife, Lidia, was the mother of all of his children.
