His parents are not Asa Fuller and Meletiah Metcalf of Dedham, nor are they Asa Fuller and Elizabeth Winchester of Newton, Mass. and Saint Albans, Vermont, though many online trees list these couples as this parents. Many of his children's records indicate their father was born in Maine, so I believe there must be some connection to Maine--either his parents were born there, or he was, or he lived there in his childhood. Asa was a Baptist and his parents may have been also. I believe this accounts for the lack of baptismal and other church records.
