John M. Beard, 88, Rt. 1, Rossville, died Mon., Dec. 31,1979, at 2:58 a.m. in Home Hospital. He had been ill nine days.
Born December 23, 1891, in Carroll County, he was the son of Jesse and Sarah Hooker Beard. His marriage December 15, 1920, was to Pearl Balkema, who died Feb. 8,1962. He was
married Dec. 22, 1974, to Anna A. McCarty (nee Quinn). He was a retired farmer and had lived on the same farm since 1913. A veteran of World War I, he served in the U.S. Army and was an ambulance driver in Germany. He was a member of the Rossville American Legion, Homer Cameron Post and Rossville United Methodist Church. His wife survives.
Services were at Brown Funeral Chapel in Rossville with the Rev. Amos McGinnis officiating. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery.
