(John Cortland Searle was actually Don Carlos Searle's older half-brother. Don Carlos was the son of Leonard Breed Searle, FAG # 31038723, and his 2nd wife, Rebecca (Brinkley) Barker Searle Daniels, FAG # 30340022. Rebecca joined in a polygamist marriage with Breed Searle about 1869 and Don Carlos was their only child. Legend holds that Rebecca obtained a divorce from Searle upon making a direct personal application to Brigham Young. Don Carlos is listed as Don Carlos Daniels in 1880 Census, in the household of Rebecca's 3rd husband, Enoch Daniels. Rebecca kept detailed family records which have been found to be extremely accurate when compared with existing public records. C. Brinkley, Gibson City, IL)
