P. S. Campbell died at 2:30 yesterday afternoon at his home, 2307 Loomis street, from the infirmities of old age. Mr Campbell was born in Canada and was ninety years old last September 1st.
He lived in the United States for eighty-eight years and was a resident of De Soto until ten years ago when he came to La Crosse.
Mr Campbell served in Co C, 18th regiment, Wisconsin Volunteers, for four years. He was taken prisoner in the Battle of Shiloh and served three months in Tuscany prison.
He is survived by his widow and eight children: A L Campbell, La Crosse; Maud Campbell, La Crosse; Sherman Campbell, Oklahoma; Mrs A E White, Madison, Wis; Mrs George Powell, La Crosse; Irvin Campbell, Adams, N Y; Mrs T B Thompson, Stoughton, Wis; and J A Campbell, La Crosse, and two sisters, Mrs C Brown, Chippewa Falls and Mrs Kate Wiltse, California; twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the residence. Rev Benson will officiate and internment will be in Campbell cemetery.
