William Donnelly died in his fifty-first year, near Taylorsville (now Mountain City) in Johnson County, Tennessee. William was buried in the old McQueen's Cemetery (now Robinson-Blankenbeckler Cemetery which is part of the Ed Butler farm about three miles from town) in Mountain City, Johnson, Tennessee where many of his family is buried. The exact spot is unknown but a marker has been placed at what is thought to be the spot.
The Mountain City Chapter, Daughters Of The American Revolution (D.A.R.), conducted a service May 30, 1928 and unveiled a marker, in honor of William Donnelly, solider of the War of 1812, at the family square in Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain View, Johnson County, Tennessee.
