Elwood Nickell Chambers, Sr., 65, died Thursday, May 27, in Houston,TX.
Born in Dunham, KY, he was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland and Frances Nickell Chambers.
He was a graduate of Paintsville High School, Alice Lloyd Junior College, Pippa Passes, University of Kentucky, and received a Ph. D from the University of Florida in 1980.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are his wife, Jeanne Chambers, two daughters, Mrs. Susan Thompson, Houston, and Mrs. Jeannelle Lynch, Denver; on son, Nick Chambers, Katy, TX; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Akers, Dayton, OH and Mrs. Frances Oakley, Orlando, FL; one brother, Creighton Chambers, Huntington, WV; and three grandchildren.
Rev. Michael Matthews officiated at services with interment in Houston National Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
