Dale E. Baughman
Dale Eugene Baughman, 81, of West Alexandria, Ohio, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 18, 1927, in Ingomar, Ohio. He was a 1945 graduate of Lanier High School, and a 1951 graduate of Miami University, where he was an avid Miami Redskin fan and was recipient of the 2008 Miami University "Grandfather of the Year" Award. He and his father were owners of Baughman Turkey Farms for many years.
Mr. Baughman was a respected educator in Preble County, having served as teacher and administrator at Jefferson, Lanier and Verona high schools. He was also a well-known insurance broker for Midland Mutual and Wayne Mutual Insurance Company, from which he retired in 1997. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Enterprise, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Juanita Baughman; and son-in-law, Robert Sadowski.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lois (Storer) Baughman; three daughters, Donna (Duane) Grimme and Dalene Sadowski, both of West Alexandria, and Diane Baughman of Eaton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ryan (Heidi) Grimme, Kari (Matt) O'Diam, Stephanie Sadowski and Dane Sadowski; one great-granddaughter, Allee Grimme; and one sister, Doris Johnson of Eaton, Ohio.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. A public memorial service for the family and friends will be held at 7 p.m Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev. Marvin Hileman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
