Nancy Works was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Ann Hale Hughes. Nancy was born *June 15, 1866 in New Columbus, Owen County, Kentucky.
*Note marker reads 1890 as year of birth; however, on the 1870 census Nancy was listed as 4 and on the 1880 census she was listed as 17, both listings before 1890. The age given on her date certificate calculates to 1866. This matches the age given in her obituary.
Mrs. Works was survived by her husband, James Crawford Works, six daughters; Virgie Works Florence (Shirley W.); Grace Mae Works Fryman (Luther); Essie Works Johnson (Nelson); Ollie Works Giles (Sterling); Ethel Works Woolums (Orville); and Susie Works Dunn (Elmer); two sons: Raymond Hughes Works, Sr. and Jesse Works, and eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Works was predeceased by a son, Fred Works, who died at just over one year old.
Mrs Works was the sister of; John William Hughes; Katherine 'Katie' Hughes Davis (J. C. B.); Rebecca Ann Hughes Works (Jefferson Davis); Cynthia 'Cynthie' T. Hughes Morgan (Ben) Fogle (Jasper); Silas P. Hughes; Augustus 'Gus' Hughes, Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland (Asa William); George Samuel Hughes; and Granville Hughes.

Services were held at the resident of Ms. Johnson. Pallbears were: Charlie Haley, Fred Forsyte, Hendrix Ireland, John Ireland, Roy Hughes, and Ernest Hughes. Burial was in the Jacksonville Cemetery in Bourbon County.
