I wasn't exceptionally close to Uncle Walter but he was there for me during turbulent family times. He tried hard to teach me how to fish off the pier of his Merimac, Wisconsin summer cottage. He caught fish and I caught a stick that weighed a couple of pounds. I have few memories of him but what I do remember was that I always saw him with a smile.
