Most of his life was spent on a farm south of this city. After the death of his wife, former Frona Cox, about 15 years ago, he retired and went to live in St. Elmo.
He leaves three daughters; Eva Mitchell of Altamont, Mrs. Elsie Jenkins of St. Elmo and Mrs. Birdie Jones of Carrollton, Il.; two sons, Jessie M. Doty and Ados B. Doty, both of Effingham; three brothers, John, Roy and Wayne Doty all of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Phronia Tipsword of St. Louis, Mrs. Mina Dial of Beecher City, Mrs. Virda VanAlst of Effingham and Mrs. Macie Zacha of Shumway.
