He was an active member of St. Paul's Independent Methodist Church and co-owned and operated Roberts Restaurant for 43 years.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law; a son; a daughter-in-law; sisters, Gertrude Craps, West Columbia; Virtilla Smith, Lexington [both now deceased]; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by a stepson, Ritchie B. Gantt Sr. and brothers, Richard, Enos and Leopard Roberts.
