Mrs. Barker, 92, of 18829 Benhams Road, Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, in Cambridge House. She was born Nov. 9, 1909, in Benhams, Va., the daughter of the late Noah King Sproles and Rosie Cooper Sproles. Mrs. Barker was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church and Senior Citizens Club of Benhams. She was a housewife and was preceded in death by her husband, Milt Barker, and a son, Gene Barker. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Fleenor, Bristol, Va.; sons, Lewis Barker and Bobby Barker, both of Bristol, Va., and Douglas Barker of Kingsport, Tenn.; brothers, W.Z. Sproles, Bristol, Tenn., and Ted Sproles, Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Joan Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Sugar Grove Baptist Church and staff of the Cambridge House. Weaver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
