Husband James Ambrose AllenNancy Morandia May was the daughter of Louisa Jane Simpson and Henry May.
Sister to Samuel, William Henry, Thomas P., J. Monroe, and Jane May.
Morandia married William Henry Rogers on December 19, 1880 and to this union four daughters were born, Lou Della (1883), Stella Alberta (1886), Ollie Brownie (1888), and Allie Tom (1891). After the death of William Henry in 1905, Morandia married Issac Tubb Crockett on September 2, 1915.
Morandia "Miss Randy" as she was affectionately called, first operation was the Melrose House Hotel, then the famous Canary Dining Room in Downtown Waverly in the late 1800's. Known for the Canary's that lived in Cages, which was the decor of the establishment. Mrs. Morandia's knowledge of operating a Boarding House, she took over the ownership of the Colonial Hotel on East Main Street. In 1939 Morandia purchased the Carnell Boarding House on Church Street. She changed the name to Hotel Dixieland. She was propertier for a total of 50 years in the Hotel and Restaurant business with the help of her daughter Miss Allie Rogers. The Dixieland was known for their southern hospitality and southern food, they were famous for their fried chicken and lemon icebox pies. Their slogan was "Where hospitality is a religion and chicken was born fried". One of the notable quests was Duncan Hines who wrote about the Dixieland in his "Adventures in Good Eating". After her death in 1950, Miss Allie operated the establishment till her death in 1962. After her death her sister Ollie ran the Dixieland till it closed in 1963, when the Hotel Dixieland was put up for auction. The Dixieland was furnished with beautiful antiques, A Mahogany Dresser from Rachel Jackson's bedroom at the Hermitage, Cannonball Beds with steps and a half Tester Bed for their boarders and guests. The Gardens grew beautiful flowers and the fish pond was delightful for the children. The Morindia Rose is named for her. Mrs. Morindia and Miss Allie were instrumental in the reorganization in 1946 of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Waverly. The church would meet in the Dining Room of the Dixieland till they moved back to their permanent location. The Waverly Cumberland Presbyterain Church on Church Street is still holding Sunday Worship.
