Our loving, kind and gentle mother, Beulah Hinckley Rose, age 94, passed away at her home on October 27, 2008 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born April 23, 1914 in Hinckley, Utah, the daughter of Apostle Alonzo Arza Hinckley and Rose May Robison. Mother loved her childhood growing up in Hinckley. The family relocated to Salt Lake City when Governor Charles R. Mabey asked her father to serve as the Commissioner of Agriculture for the state of Utah. She graduated from East High School and attended USC while her father presided over the California Mission. When the family returned to Utah she finished her BA degree at Brigham Young University. She served as a student body officer and was a member of the Alethian Association. Mom loved beautiful music and played the cello in the Brigham Young University Symphony Orchestra.

It was at BYU where she met her eternal companion, Ford Thomas Rose. They were married on June 30, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple by President Heber J. Grant. They spent 58 wonderful, happy years together. Dad preceded her in death on October 12, 1996. Mom was always attracted to things that were beautiful and uplifting. She served in many callings. Hers was a life of charity and compassion. Her study and understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was extraordinary. Mom was a kind and caring homemaker. The joy of her life was her family. She was always soft spoken and refined. Mom created a loving environment in her home, for which her posterity has been richly blessed.

She is survived by her ten children: Priscilla (Dr. Richard C. Crockett), Ford Thomas Rose II (Kathy), Robert Floyd Rose, Kathleen (Marvin R. Jensen), Marie-George (Christopher M. Atkins), Darlene (Ralph J. Rich), Jeanine (G. Merrill Dodge), Kenneth Hinckley Rose (Diane), Wallace Hinckley Rose (Valinda), Lyman Hinckley Rose (Lesa). Survived by 65 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and 13 brothers and sisters. Mom, we will miss your gentle ways and your happy smile.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, October 30, 2008 in the Evergreen Ward Chapel located at 2125 East Evergreen Avenue in East Millcreek, UT. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary located at 260 East South Temple Street in Salt Lake City, UT and at the Church one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
