Robert came to the Valley when he was 11 years old, with his parents. They lived in a dugout when they first arrived, then the dugout became the cellar of their home. A year after their arrival, Robert 's father died. His mother took in washing and the children got jobs to help out. Robert worked at the granite quarry and a sawmill. He met his wife at the sawmill. They married and made their home in Salt Lake . About 1887 , they moved to Snyderville, Summit, Utah , to farm. Robert homesteaded land in Wallsburg, Utah , and moved his family there. They farmed and raised sheep and cattle. Times were hard so he got a job at a Park City mine. He worked there all week and then walked home on weekends. When they got older, they bought a home in town while their son worked the farm. Robert died there. Children: Robert , b. 17 Nov 1877 , Salt Lake City, Utah .
