Alma Emeline Davis, nee Byrd,

93 years,1 month & 1 day of age at her death was born on 07 April 1893 in Franklin County, Missouri. The daughter of Allen T. Byrd and Bell V. (Maiden Name Unknown). Mrs Davis had lived in Granite City, Illinois since 1896.

She was a charter member of Dewey Avenue United Methodist Church, a member and founder of the Truth Circle Class Sisterhood, and a past president and founder of Victory Mothers Unit 2.

Her busband, David Evans Davis, a former Granite City Alderman, died in 1946.

Survivors include three sons, David R., William H., and Marion Davis, all of Granite City, Illinois. One sister, Mrs. Mabel Desmukes of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday, March 7, 1986 at Davis Funeral Home, 21st Street and Cleveland Boulevard, where the Rev. Vernon Brown officiated at the 10 a.m. services, Saturday, March 8, 1986.

Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, Illinois. Memorial are requested for Dewey Avenue United Methodist Church.
