Pioneer Passes Away on Monday

E. A. Havens Dies At His Home Following a Stroke of Paralysis

This community lost another of its most highly esteemed pioneers, when E. A. Havens died at his home near this city on Monday at 1 o'clock, following a stroke of paralysis which he suffered on Sunday evening.

Edson Alphonso Havens was born at Galena, Ohio, April 9, 1853, and came with his parents to Marshalltown, Iowa, when he was a boy. In 1879 the family came to Nebraska and established a home near Wausa.

On October 18, 1883, Mr. Havens was married to Miss Adela E. Davis at the home of her parents near this city and the young people set up housekeeping on the farm on which they were still living at the time of Mr. Havens' death.

Three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Havens and they with their mother survive a kind, thoughtful and unselfish husband and father. Two grand-children, one brother and one sister also survive him.
