Service for Margie Marie Ratliff, 74, of Boyd will be Thursday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boyd. Burial will follow at Boyd Cemetery.
Ratliff died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, in Fort Worth.
Born Jan. 10, 1928, in Fort Cobb, Okla., she was a banker. She married Leonard D. Ratliff on Dec. 30, 1945, in Decatur. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boyd. She went to work for what was then Continental State Bank in Boyd in the mid 1960s. She later worked for Boyd Bank, a branch of the First National Bank of Bridgeport. She was an active member of her church, serving on the building committee and helped for many years with the annual Lord's Acre. She worked for many years to raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association and helped plan Wise County's first American Heart Walk. She was a longtime supporter of the Wise County Youth Fair and represented her bank as a buyer in the annual Youth Fair auction. She was also involved in activities at Boyd schools, both with her children and grandchildren. She was instrumental in getting the Boyd Community Center constructed and helped raise funds for the All Wise Academic Team.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard of Boyd; two sons, Wayne and wife Karen Ratliff and Robert and wife Linda Ratliff, both of Boyd; a daughter, Judy Clement of Alvord; three brothers, J.C. and Billy Wayne Stone, both of Decatur and Don Stone of Rendon; three sisters, Mary Jo Lasater of Missouri, Betty Mae Sharp of Midland and Mona Jean Mitchum of Bridgeport and seven grandchildren, Kathy, Kristen, Laura, Katie, Derrick, Logan and Austin.
