Lloyd J. Atchison, 89, died at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 1999, in the Skilled Care Unit of Franklin Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Christopher, with the Rev. Gary Farthing officiating.
Burial will be in the Mulkeytown Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday until time of service. Mr. Atchison was born on Nov. 10, 1909, in Plain View, Ark., the son of Andrew J. and Allie (Williams) Atchison. He was first married to Norma (Steckenrider) Atchison who preceded him in death. He later married Beatrice J. (Corn) Atchison. She survives. He was a retired coal miner from Freeman #3 and a member of U.M.W.A. In addition to his wife, Beatrice, he is survived by four children, Betty Rowland of Christopher, Donald Atchison of Sesser, Jack Atchison, Diane Sthal of Mulkeytown; stepchildren Dean Smith of West Frankfort, Ray Smith of Kentucky, Donna Craig of Lake-In-The-Hills, Jerry Smith of Abingdon; fourteen grandchildren; one sister, Essie Hayes of Mt. Vernon.
