Mrs. Lena Jones, who had been a resident of Newton county for 70 years died at her home in Jasper Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.
Mrs. Jones, who was 83, came to Arkansas with her family from Missouri when she was 13 years old.
Her father, Col. Fred Orton Boomer, settled on a mountain west of Jasper and practised law here for a number of years.
Lena Boomer married Brice L. Jones and they lived in Newton county all of their married lives. Mr. Jones died nine years ago.
Mrs. Jones is survived by nine children. They are Gould, Fred, Otis, Brice, Bruton and Jeff of Jasper, Mrs. Linda Hutchins of Salinas, Cal, Ralph Jones of Los Cruces, N.M., and Mrs. Annie Anderson of Barnsdall, Oklahoma. A son, Hayles Boomer, and a daughter, Jett, are deceased. Mrs. Jones is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mittie Barker of Harrison.
Funeral plans are incomplete pending word from the children who are away.
