John Way outlived his children and bequeathed the bulk of his estate to his grandson David G. Gates. If David were to die before reaching lawful age or without issue, then the estate was to go to the heirs of his brothers Joshua and Thomas. His nephew, Russel Way was excluded from a possible share because of a specific bequest given to him.
John and Anstrus are in the New London County Census of 1790 and at Montville, New London County in 1800-1830.
Both are buried in the Way Cemetery at Salem.
