A native of Panola County, Mr. Childs was a retired oil construction worker. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Masonic Lodge #521 of Carthage.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth White of Carthage and Mrs. Jean Reeves of Alice; one brother, Johnnie Childs, Timpson; three sisters, Mrs. Ada Ritter, New London, Miss Carrie Childs of Dotson, and Mrs. Jewel Hartless of Timpson; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 16 at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ervin Duncan and the Rev. W. F. Berry officiating. Burial was at Restland Memorial Park.
