Charles A. Goings, 92, of Van Wert, died at noon Monday, August 30, 2010, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
He was born December 25, 1917, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Edward Frank and H. Arvilla (Giffin) Goings. On February 27, 1938, he married Ada May (Cluts) Goings, who preceded him in death on May 14, 1940. On February 5, 1944, he married Geraldine Grace (Kilgore) Goings, who preceded him in death on January 7, 1994.
Survivors include Carlton E. "Gene" (Lois) Goings of Van Wert; one daughter-in-law, Marcia Goings of Convoy; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
A son, Donald L. Goings; one brother, Lester E. Goings; two sisters, Myra P. Bates and Jennie E. Goings (in infancy); and one great-grandchild also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 2, at North Union United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert County, with the Rev. Mary Ann Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
