Spencer Andrew Risden was born April 16, 1879 in New Metamoras, Washington County, Ohio to Joseph Risden and Margaret Tiss Risden. He married and had two children: Spencer and Marie. His second marriage to Dulcena Heckathorn in 1900 produced two daughters: Sara and Bertha. He was a potter for many years, retiring in 1944. He died on June 23, 1962 in East Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio.
