Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company F, 25th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on September 1, 1862. He served until he died of typhoid fever on April 15, 1863 at the Regimental Hospital near Suffolk, Virginia.

His mother, Elizabeth Brewton, filed for a US Army Dependent Relation Pension (Application #26147, Certificate #21976).
