Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday for Arthelia Mae "Art" Clark of Grand Ronde. Father Ray Elam officiated. Vigil services were held the previous evening.

Interment was in Holmes Family Cemetery, Grand Ronde.

Mrs. Clark died Dec. 25, 1999, in her home. She was 72.

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Holmes, she was born July 27, 1927, in Grand Ronde, 1/4 mile away from her adult home. She lived most of her life on land originally allotted from the government in the 1850s.

She moved to Willamina in the 1950s, and in the 1960s lived in Dallas and Hebo. She returned to Grand Ronde in the late '60s.

She and Elton C. Clark were married Dec. 29, 1952, in Stevens, Wash.

Mrs. Clark become involved with the Oregon Council for the Blind. Her hobbies included beading, leather stitching and learning to read Braille.

Survivors include two sons, John Clark of Sheridan and David Clark of Lincoln City; a daughter, Arlettia Krehbiel of Willamina; two sisters, Vivian Martin of Willamina and Priscella Hofenbredl of Grand Ronde; two brothers, Benny Bahr of Grand Ronde and Loren F. Holmes Sr. of Portland; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.
