Ambrose Eugene O'Brien, manager of the Memphis Auto Inspection Bureau and World War veteran, died at his home, 351 North Cleveland, at 9:10 o'clock last night of injuries received in an automobile accident near Fulton, Miss., last May 30. He was 50. Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien were returning to Memphis from a vacation at Miami, Fla., when their car overturned. Mrs. O'Brien was instantly killed, but Mr. O'Brien's injuries were thought to be minor at the time. Son of the late A.E. O'Brien and Mrs. O'Brien, he was born at Terry, Miss., and moved to Memphis with his parents after attending school at Terry and Oxford, Miss. His father operated a drug store here for several years before his death about 10 years ago. During the World War, Mr. O'Brien served as an instructor with the Motor Transport Division. He was a Baptist and a member of the American Legion. Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, L.R. O'Brien, also of Memphis. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. H.T. Wood will be held at National Funeral Home at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be in Memorial Park. (Published in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN, on August 15, 1941)
