Ancester of Family has Unique Memorial in Falckner Swamp Cemetery

A fine monument to Cassimer Missimer, the founder of the Missimer family has been placed in the Falkner Swamp German Lutheran Church cemetery, at a prominent place near the church. The monument, which consists of a large boulder secured at Ringing Rocks has now been completed. On the face is a slab of white marble, 2 feet wide and 3 feet high, imbedded in the granite. The inscription is as follows: "Cassimer Missimer, 1708-1812. The founder of the Missimer Family in America, who was for many years an active member of this, the oldest German Lutheran Church in America." Col. Merit M. Missimer, of Pottstown, was instrumental in having the monument erected to the memory of his foreparent. Cassimer Missimer was born in 1708 and died in 1812, being nearly 104 years old at his death. He was the father of 12 children, six sons and six daughters. He died at Sprogell's Run on the premises now occupied by Irwin Kepler. At that time Cassimer Missimer was the owner of all of the farm land in that section. On June 17, 1915, a family reunion was held at Falckner Swamp and steps were taken towards the erection of a suitable monument.
