Funeral services for Merle "Hardtimes" Denton, age 89, of Bastrop, were held at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Spearsville. Mr. Denton, a retired employee of International Paper Company, passed away Oct. 10 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care Center.
